Week 7: Reflection

Hello Everyone,

We are reaching to the end of the course.

As usual, it’s been a wonderful and exciting week. The best part of this week was exploring what we can do in a one-computer classroom and how we can implement activities with the minimum availability of technological devices.
I benefited a lot from my course-mates and the activities they have described in the thread as well as creating a lesson plan which we can implement in our classes.

I would like to take the opportunity and ask to see whether you feel the same way as I did when I replied to Hakim’s blog post. Although we are all instructors in our daily lives, we are students in this course and as students we need to create something of our own and by creating lesson plans and activities and sharing them on nicenet.org, we will remember what we have learned from each other. All in all, I believe cooperative learning will lead to better results rather than applying activities which are given to us. Do you agree?

  1. Dear Sylvia,

I strongly agree that cooperation give much better results than following a narrow path of applications and definitely more enriching than competition.

We are learners, not only in this course. We should always have the readiness to learn as teachers. I am happy this course has provided the favorable environment for us from around the word.

Speaking of which, since we are pretty close geographically and share the similar teaching experiences, maybe we should get together and elaborate our cooperation. What do you think?

    Take care,

    1. Hello Hassan,

I fully agree with you! When we stop learning,we will soon neglect what we already know. We should try to learn not only as teachers but also as human beings.

As for the meeting, I would be very glad to get together and discuss our teaching experiences. Let's ask Nihmat if she would like to join us maybe after we finalize our online course :)?

      Best,

  2. Sylvia,

What I love about this Webskills course is how the course is well built and thought over. I agree with Hakim in the part that I also sometimes feel frustration because I do not know how to do this or that, and there is no one to show to me. However, one should remember that we have already been given tools - search engines and sites we can use!!!!

And then I think one learns better through practice. A Chinese proverb says: "Tell me, I’ll forget, Show me, I’ll remember, Involve me, I’ll understand".

And at last, I think hakim has the right to have a different from mine opinion.

    1. Dear Yulia,

I do understand Hakim. We all felt frustration at some point while we were on our computers at 3 am no knowing what to do but you have presented and excellent proverb to demonstrate my point of view as well :)

  3. Hi Sylvia,

What you mentioned was true that we are learners and there is a need to be independent in learning. Furthermore the scope was about autonomy learning which indirectly tells us to learn with less help from the instructors. That's my point view. Perhaps what some people face are the acts of frustration about not getting the information at hand thus leading to emotional stress. Just be positive and there'll surely be a way to solve the problem. :)

    Cheers
    Nur

  4. • Dear Sylvia,

    • I totally agree with you! Sharing is the only way constant professional development. Thus, we grow professionally more when we discuss ideas rather than doing simple tasks!

Cooperative learning was totally enhanced in this course since the members were highly supportive. It proved in a way or another how effective it is in teaching.
I'm glad that you're having fun about what you learn.
wishing you the best of luck in your course tasks and career life.
